หลักการของรีเลย์ป้องกันกระแสเกิน Overcurrent
จุดประสงค์ในการติดตั้ง overcurrent relay คือเพื่อตรวจจับ fault ในระบบไฟฟ้า และส่งสัญญาณให้ breaker เปิดวงจรเพื่อแยกระบบไฟฟ้าที่เกิด fault ออกไป ดังนั้น ระบบป้องกันต้องมีความสามารถจำแนกได้ว่าส่วนใดของระบบเกิดผิดปรกติและแยกเฉพาะส่วนนั้นออกจากส่วนอื่นของระบบที่ยังปกติอยู่
วิธีการที่จะจำแนกส่วนที่ผิดปกติ จะเป็นการปรับตั้งระบบอุปกรณ์ตรวจจับ fault โดยการปรับตั้งให้อุปกรณ์ทำการแยกแยะ fault โดยตรวจสอบกระแส ตรวจสอบเวลา หรือทั้งสองอย่างในเวลาเดียวกัน
การแยกแยะโดยใช้กระแส
การแยกแยะโดยใช้กระแส อยู่บนพื้นฐานความจริงที่ว่า กระแส fault ที่เกิดขึ้น แปรเปลี่ยนตามตำแหน่งที่เกิด fault นั้น เนื่องจาก impedance ของอุปกรณ์ต่างๆ ในระบบไฟฟ้าระหว่างแหล่งจ่ายกระแส (source) และจุดเกิด fault รีเลย์ตามจุดต่างๆ จะถูกตั้งใว้ให้ทำงาน ณ ค่ากระแสที่เหมาะสมเพื่อให้มีเพียงรีเลย์ที่จุดใกล้ fault ที่สุดทำงานเท่านั้น
มีหลายข้อที่ควรระวังเมื่อต้องการใช้การแยกแยะ fault โดยวิธีนี้
ตามรูป กระแส fault ทั้งสองฝั่งของ breaker จะมีค่าใกล้เคียงกัน

Update for MiCOM S1 Agile version 2.1 Build 4.8.0 – Install Now
GE Grid Solutions advises an important update to MiCOM S1 Agile, the universal IED engineering tool suite for MiCOM and Agile devices. We recommend that this update is performed in order to continue fast and uninterrupted access to product data models. The patch can be downloaded using the link below:
NEW FEATURES
- PSL Editor Off Page Connectors: New off page connector signals (or PSL variables) are available to simplify PSL connections between different pages of logic in a seamless and orderly fashion
- GOOSE Configurator Tool Improvements: PSL files can be associated in GOOSE configurator to IEDs to speed up configuration of GOOSE subscriptions when associating them to the relay’s internal signals
- GOOSE Configurator Tool Improvements: Added support for SCL files. The tool can add non MiCOM Px4x IEDs from CID files and entire SCD files for the purpose of receiving third party IED publishers. The tool, however, is still limited to setting GOOSE subscriptions and publishers for MiCOM Px4x relays
